Bob Kaseda of Kirtland finished second in Lighten Up a few years ago, but came back because he saw the weight creeping back on. He's competitive, and works hard, so he's expecting big results.

Final Week

Hi Everyone, We are in the home stretch of the 6 month contest and I have a busy fitness week planned. The weather will be stunning for some outside exercise and I plan on taking full advantage of it. I think with some Blood, Sweat and Tears I can reach a 40 pound loss for the contest. I would be very pleased with that number indeed! My workout partner, Miss Emily has been running and walking with me for the last 2 months and we are very proud of her. She went for a walk in the park with her grandma and after they returned, even grandma noticed how much she has improved. It was an honor to be part of this contest. It has helped me and my family get healthier and for that, I am forever grateful. Good luck all my friends and Be Strong! Bob

Week 26

Hi Everyone, I want to finish this thing in a big way and I was searching for a way to lose the most weight in 2 weeks. Maybe a total body cleanse or maybe a 500 calorie a day starvation with only rabbit food and protein shakes. My out of control appetite has slowed to a crawl and many days I have to stay focused on hitting the 1200 calories a day so my metabolism keeps burning. I have another 35 pounds to lose and this isn't going to happen in 2 weeks unless I carve it off with the same electric knife I use for the Thanksgiving Turkey! I feel very lucky to have been given another opportunity to get my self back on the right track again. The News Herald Contest will always be close to my heart and I know that long after all of the attention, monthly weigh ins, newspaper stories, blogs, Vitabot and help from the great people at Lean Living and the Lake County Health District ends, my healthy lifestyle will continue. Good Luck and Be Strong! Bob

Week 25

Hi Everyone, The results are in for the 5th weigh in and it looks like we have a new leader. Congrats to Joe, Jane and Cathy! What a race at the top! The rest of the shrinking field is neck and neck, where even a pound or two makes a big difference. I had a hot tub party at my house yesterday and it was a rib fest. I managed to make my way up to the Kirtland track before everyone arrived to do my 30 minute run. Even with being in the party mode, I still managed to fit this in before hand. I tried to talk my workout partner to join me but she was already in the party mode and was not biting. Did I do this because of the contest or because it is part of the life style changes that I now have in place moving forward? Good question, maybe a little of both. What a great weather weekend for getting out there and get moving a little bit. Good luck to everyone in these final weeks and congrats to all my fellow contestants for staying the course through this tough 6 month challenge! Be Strong! Bob
